Expansion into the U.S. Market and Quality Improvement through Exhaust System Components by Stainless Steel Casting Manufacturer I

expatriate services case study

Background

Client: Company Y, Stainless Steel Casting Manufacturer
Defects such as porosity and shrinkage cavities occurring during manufacturing were found in stainless steel castings at a US company, leading to gas leakage issues. Since gas leakage could potentially cause explosions in the worst-case scenario, the US company contacted Assista to look for a casting manufacturer as a new supplier.

Assista’s Support

Assista contacted Company Y, a casting manufacturer in Japan's stainless steel fittings market. We facilitated sales to major automotive companies such as Cummins, Nissan TN, and Honda North America, T. RAD North America and Cardington Yutaka and helped process improvements and rigorous quality inspections to establish a system to minimize defects like porosity and shrinkage cavities common in stainless steel castings.

Results

Company Y has yield rate exceeding 99.9%. By removing defective products before delivered to the customers, Y successfully had the products replaced from their previous suppliers’. Following factory audits, Y was certified as an official vendor by the US company and received the Supplier Award for five consecutive years. Currently, Company Y's sales in the U.S. exceed ¥1.8 billion.
